I forgot when our train was leaving, so we were up far too early. For
the first time we had problems with trains in Germany, just that they
kept being late and having to go from different platforms. They were
fine once we were on board.
Anyway, target Coburg (just so we could send postcards to people in
Brunswick!) - hopefully some of them will get through (more on that
rant later)...
After wandering in the drizzle for a bit, we caught a 'tourist train'
(one of those train shaped little kids things that go on roads) up to
the top of the hill and the castle. The castle was great, and we saw a
room where Martin Luther had been locked up for a while. One of the most
amazing sights in the whole museum was a room of which every part of the
walls and roof was made of tiny little slivers of inlaid wood - must
have been years of work for someone. The guns and swords through the
ages looked a bit heavy for my liking - doubt I could point half of
them, let alone deal with the recoil.
Finally caught the train to Nuremberg, to a hostel with very cool staff
(2 people and a cat!) - and with free internet access. Wandered town for
a bit, found dinner and a vague idea of our bearings.
