Luckily Paul's house can be locked just by closing the door, so we
didn't have to be out of the place before 9am. Our plan was to go to
Rotterdam and try to meet up with my relatives there, but we realised
that there wasn't going to be time.
We wound up catching a train to The Hague, where I went for a walk while
Kate minded the bags - only had half an hour to look around anyway.
Train to Hook of Holland and then ferry to Harwick - it claimed to leave
at 4pm, but was actually a fair bit later. The check-in procedure was
the same as for an international flight, including checking luggage,
passport stamps, etc. Very amusing was the notice saying 'last check-in
3:45'. Given that our train had arrived at 3:30 and they only had
two people on the baggage check-in, I doubt they would have
finished before
3:1. Our train was listed on the timetable as the connection to
catch as well.
Anyway, found 4 seats together and waited for Bruce and Michele, who
were taking a motorbike over - played cards and talked.
The train from Harwick went to London Liverpool St - expressing right
through Romford, so we had to take the train back out. Drank wine and
whiskey with Ingvar, and ate his Timtams!
