Woke up when Purdy (one of the three cats: Purdy, Puds and Sophie)
jumped onto our windowsill and broke a glass jar with a candle inside!
Silly cat. He got a fright as well.
Kate took the train into London with her pack full (overflowing
indeed) of stuff that we're leaving behind with Tiff (including the
laptop). It was heavier than it is now with all the stuff she's
carrying around Italy!
[Kate says: Tiff had just moved into her new house, a huge 2 bedroom
flat with her friend Nisha in Islington, so really nice and close to the
city. It was great to see them again. I helped with carrying boxes
upstairs, as Nisha's room is yet to be carpetted, and so she needs
minimal stuff in there until it's done. I also helped with cleaning the
high kitchen cupboards, given that I'm taller than either of them! They
also fed me dinner - yummy mushroom stroganoff - and put me on the right
bus back to Liverpool st station. Of course I would travel on the day
when they're doing track works between Cambridge and King's Cross (ie
the fast train line) so had to catch the really slow one back again.]
I didn't realise Kate would be gone for so long, or that they'd need
help cleaning (... or I would have made even more sure they didn't
convince me to go!), but I wanted to get the photo album system
finished. It took a reasonable amount of work to align all the photos
correctly and build the system I wanted to display them. I've had a
suggestion that I should try to sell this diary system to Lonely Planet
for their subscribers. Might be worth a try now that I've got photo
support in there! Anyway, I did that and wrote a couple of diary
entries, then sat around reading Dilbert comics and helping Simes eat
the food left over from the previous night.
Kate came home about 10:30 at night, by which time I'd packed all my
stuff and got the postcards out ready to write. We sat around writing
postcards and watching that crazy Dave character who's doing exactly
what his horoscope tells him to every day. Very amusing, especially when
he flew to New York to visit an old friend, got there just before
midnight. Explaining what he was doing, he checked the internet and
discovered that his horoscope told him to spend as much of the day as
possible at home. Back on the plane to England, and he got home at 10:30
that night. Insane, but very funny (and scientific or something - his
control is his twin brother, and they're comparing happiness (== Health
+ Wealth + Love)).
Got to bed about 1:30 after packing everything.
