Perugia is a hill town, with great views over the countryside. Kate's
room especially had nice views. We wandered to the cathedral first -
it's a lot better than the Lonely Planet guide says. The stained glass
windows are new, but the colours are lovely, and they aren't so full of
repairs that you can't see anything. They also have Mary's wedding ring,
which is locked in 15 boxes, and only shown once a year on July 30th.
Found a net cafe and sent the last bunch of diaries.
Sat near an icky turned off fountain to eat a picnic lunch. The fountain
had really dodgy looking green water, I think Nessie was there on a
holiday from Scotland... we could see bubbles. Afterwards we walked back
through some amazing underground passages running up through the hill..
with escalators up the steepest bits. It was a mix of arches and walls
that looked like it grew over time, with new bits added all the time.
Everything was mixed in together. Really amazing, and totally free!
We lazed around all afternoon (had good books). That's about all really.
