Welcome to the giant diary update for the past couple of weeks! We've
found a £2 for 24 hours deal - should be able to get most of them done
in that time ;)
Just to remind everyone (including ourselves), we're currently in Gryon,
just about to leave.
Got up relatively early (i.e - morning) and caught the bus down
the mountain.
Left our bags in the lockers at Montreaux train station, then caught a
much smaller train out to Chateau Chillon - a very cool castle with a
useful printed guide available in lots of languages. The couple before
us said they'd be happy to have it in any of about 4 languages - very
jealous of people who can read all that!
The castle is on a rock outcrop (an island really) in Lake Geneva,
with views up a steep mountain-side (complete with lots of roads these
days) on one side, and over the lake to the mountains of France on the
other side. It was once used to collect tolls from the road along the
side of the lake.
Somewhere on the trains I lost Kate's France book - am still getting
shit for this. I don't have a clue how I lost it, because I was sure I
either put it back in my bag or handed it to Kate - but she doesn't
remember getting it.
Anyway, made it to Geneva, where we found the hostel and saw Little
Johnie on the TV - talking about Bali. We hadn't heard about it yet.
Had felafel for dinner.
Our room-mate was back very late (3 bed dorms are very civilised after
some of the places we've stayed!) but was quiet and well behaved. Yay
for good room-mates.
